PMO Set Up and Microsoft Project 2003 Server Implementation
The Client
Multinational fast moving consumer goods company.
The Challenge
EQuest Consulting was required to assess the client’s project management practices in relation to project delivery problems being experienced. Having presented our findings to Senior Management, we were engaged to establish a Project Management Office (PMO) in order to increase the project management maturity level to meet business demands.

How EQuest Consulting Met the Challenge
Based on our findings we created a PMO roadmap to address:
  • Management of shared resources across multiple projects
  • Creation of accurate schedules and regular project tracking
  • Project prioritisation
  • Consistent project management methodology and process
  • Project reporting requirements
  • Project Manager competency
With our approach accepted by Senior Management, we planned the implementation of the PMO roadmap whilst assisting the client to recruit suitable PMO staff. We then began executing the PMO implementation whilst conducting familiarisation of the new PMO staff, enabling the client to take on the PMO implementation with our full support. This included running a pilot to evaluate Microsoft Project Server 2003 EPM as an enterprise wide collaboration tool in order to manage shared resources across multiple projects.
