Major Australian Airline.
The Challenge
EQuest Consulting were engaged to establish a Program Office and provide management services for an 18 month program to migrate the client’s Reservations systems to the Amadeus Global Distribution System. This is a community Reservations system comprising 120 airlines.

The Program Office supported 8 business project teams, 20 projects delivering changes to interfacing systems, plus business procedures, training, infrastructure, testing and cut over teams. This was a huge challenge considering the large size of the program, the significant modifications that were required to Amadeus’ core systems, the far reaching impacts of the changes and the criticality to the airline.

How EQuest Consulting Met the Challenge
EQuest Consulting provided a consultant with an intimate knowledge of airline systems as well as in depth Project Management and Program Office Management experience. We therefore fully understood the requirements of the program and the services its Program Office was required to deliver.

EQuest Consulting provided the following services:
  • Set up of the Program Office infrastructure
  • Establishing project planning standards and templates
  • Development and roll out of project and program reporting
  • Mentoring and working with Project Managers to create detailed project plans
  • Synchronising our client's and Amadeus' project schedules, working with Amadeus' Program Office located in France
  • Determining the program's resource requirements
  • Planning phases of work with Project Managers and Team Leads, utilising resource leveling techniques
  • Setting up processes to track plans, including the capture of actual's and revised estimates
  • Implementing Risk, Issue & Change Management procedures and tools

The Benefits
A Program Office was established that was fully capable of providing the services required to support the Program’s delivery. These services included project administration, time capture, cost tracking, management reporting, provision and training of project management tools, implementation of standards, communication, quality assurance, mentoring and support of Project Managers and Program governance.

The Program Office was key to the smooth running of the Program, which was completed to time and budget, with all of its requirements delivered and no major production issues
