Project Management for Business Success
Health Check of a Systems Implementation Project
The Client
Major Australian Bank.
The Challenge
The project’s objective was to introduce International Money Transfers as a new product offered via the bank’s online banking facility. The project was completing its Build phase and was preparing to commence its Testing phase. The objective of the Health Check was to assess the risks and readiness of the project as a decision check point for allowing it to proceed into Testing.

How EQuest Consulting Met the Challenge
The Health Check process considered 10 areas for assessment. These were:

  • Project Management & Control
  • Project Budget
  • Technology
  • Implementation Strategy
  • System Testing Processes
  • Skills and People
  • Application Development
  • Support Structures
  • Project Governance
  • Client Engagement

EQuest Consulting developed an interview schedule and reviewed the existing project documentation. We conducted a thorough analysis of all the information gathered and made a risk and readiness determination for each of the above categories. Our results were presented to the project’s Steering Committee with recommended actions to mitigate areas of significant risk.

The Benefits

The Health Check provided an impartial evaluation and positioning of the Project prior to progressing to the next major stage of development.

As an external entity we were able to provide a holistic view of the project, identifying areas of concern that needed addressing in the short term in order to minimise adverse long term impacts.

The Health Check provided confidence for the project’s stakeholders that a correct project “due process” was being followed.
